$title="25th June 2001 - Timisoara Days"; include("../sys/top.php"); ?>
Dear devotees, PAMHO! AGTSP! AGTGM!
Monday June 10. Today we had to leave Sofia and go back to Timisoara. We
were supposed to leave at 6 am, but instead we have left at 9 am. The
reason was that GM had Sasabindhu and Anandamaya Prabhus carve an exact
replica of his wooden altar. The old one was made from a very fragile wood,
so GM wanted to have a solid one now. Both of them are really very artistic
and have 'golden hands', because the new altar is looking exactly as the
old one and even there are some technical improvements. But somehow they
didn't manage to make it on time before GM's departure. Therefore GM had
to wait for them. They had really a 'last minute' marathon, because they
were working on it maybe two nights non-stop and now they were finishing
the last details in the temple's courtyard.
Finally they have painted it
with last layer of color and Madhva P. exposed it to early morning sun with
the hope that it will dry quicker. It looked as if he was seeking the blessings
of Surya Narayan for the altar. In couple of minutes it had dried, so all of
them run to GM to show him the result. GM liked it and had Madhva to pack it
into some papers and into GM's special suitcase meant for this purpose. Then
we left while morning lecture was going on in the temple, so there were not
many devotees to make a kirtan. Paramjyoti drove us (GM, Madhva P. and me)
to the borders (Vidin on bulgarian side), where Murari Krsna P. waited for us.
We had to use a ferryboat again in order to reach Calafat on the
Romanian side of the Donau river. This time Murari P. had brought a small
cart for our luggage. Thanks goes also to Madhava P., who had helped to
carry the main portion of remaining things in his strong arms. Now we had more
luggage than when we arrived, because GM got a new computer from bulgarian
devotees and we have also some more things to carry, like for example a
long summer squash for GM's diet. Because it's not yet it's season it is
therefore very difficult to get it anywhere. But somehow Indrasena P. has
got it somewhere. We have arrived to Timisoara at 6 pm. It was really a long
journey and I was tired like anything. GM than took some fruits and
yoghurt.
The first lecture GM gave on Friday June 14 from BG 2.54-55. GM
focuses on 2nd chapter, because he is also studying it in detail now.
He just described general symptoms of a transcendentalist as Krsna answers
Arjuna's questions about how can we recognise a person in spiritual
consciousness. It was very short lecture (with two questions), because GM
is now very busy with his new computer. Today he has spent a lot of time
there. Sometimes when he needs to explain something, he calls for help
to Murari Krsna P., who is an expert in this science and is teaching it in
Timisoara university. The computer is really good and Murari Krsna Prabhu
has bought for GM also some other computer equipment. One day (or better to
say one night) all of us were up to very late hours doing something. I was
behind computer and Sri Caitanya, Visnu Rahasya and bh. Ionel were
discussing about tommorow's management. Suddenly GM walked in and when he
saw all of us there he surprisingly said: "Oh, here is everyone up today!"
and smiled. He than called to Murari Krsna P. to ask him something about
computer.
GM told me that Timisoara temple is the best place for 'recharging
batteries' and that's true. It is a quiet place with only a few brahmacaries
living here. The reason is that the devotees don't invite just anyone to
come to the temple (not even for a Sunday Feast), because they have had bad
experience with some crazy or not serious people. So what they do now is
that every Saturday they held a Public Program, which is like a filter, and
they invite to visit the temple only those who seem to be serious. The
atmosphere here is therefore like in the family. I like this place very
much now, even though in the beggining I was little unsure about it.
GM is resting a lot now, therefore he gives only one lecture a day, if any.
Every day I am cooking a lunch for GM (usually some subji or dahl, fruit salad
with yoghurt and capaties) and also offering it to GM's salagrams. If
you still don't know Their names, here they are: Jagganath, Sudarsan and
Jagganath-Sudarsan. It is very special experience when I am offering to
Them and GM is behind me (literally) sitting in a chair, chanting japa or
reading and sometimes watching me how I am doing it (and sometimes
correcting me). Here I can realize what it means that spiritual master is
always watching us. It is not that only when he is personally present there
we must be careful and otherwise 'anyway, nobody is watching...'. No, we
should always be very careful about everything we do, just as if guru is
watching us personally. Anyway, Krsna as caitya guru in the heart is always
watching us.
Then every evening Visnu Rahasya is cooking for GM some snack. Usually it
is something like fried potatoes, which GM likes very much. The copper
plates for his knee were not so good as it was expected, so GM doesn't use
them anymore. Bhakta Ionel knows how to massage, so he is now massaging GM
(not only the knee, but also other parts of the body) early in the morning
and in the evening as well. I have sent a separate letter about GM's knee
to the conference, but in addition the latest news: the doctor said that
the problem is also that the muscles on the leg were not being used for
longer time and therefore they are causing pain. So as one method for
getting them again into good condition he prescribed to GM to have a bike
ride every day. So yesterday (Friday June 22) the devotees have brought a
bike for GM and in the evening he went with Murari Krsna P. for a one-hour
ride. GM liked it so much that after they have returned he went for one
more hour alone. And in the evening he felt himself to be healthy tired.
And today he also went out for one hour.
Today I have also asked GM something about his diet and he told me that I
can use the spices again and also more variety of vegetables, but the main
point is that it must not be things which increse kapha (like for example
cauliflower or cabbage). Today the boiler in GM's bathroom has broken down,
and although Visnu Rahasya was trying to recover it, he was not successful.
He had to call a technician who has fixed it up.
Sunday June 24. Today the whole day I was busily engaged: cleaning GM's
rooms, than washing paraphernalia, then doing laundry, then cooking a lunch,
offering to salagrams and serving it to GM. GM was supposed to give a Sunday
Feast Lecture, but he canceled it. In the evening I was packing some of GM's
things, because tommorow we leave for Hungarian farm. Bh. Ionel has also
showed me how to elaborately massage GM's knee. The whole process takes about
half a hour and GM should take it twice a day.
