$title="25th June 2001 - Spiritual drug & Smokaloka"; include("../sys/top.php"); ?>
Dear devotees, PAMHO! AGTSP! AGTGM!
Here I will try to summarise briefly the events of last two weeks. So
let's return to Sofia...
Saturday June 9. The original plan was that GM will also visit the farm
and Plovdiv. But today morning he called me in and told me that he is not
feeling well for the journey. Not that he is sick, but he just doesn't have
enough energy for this travel. He also concluded that to move the trip for
tomorrow is not worthy of, because at Sunday he must be back in Sofia. So
the visit was canceled.
In the evening GM spoke on BG 2.66. The basis of whole lecture was
conversation between Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Ramananda Ray about the
highest goal of human life. He explained that in order to attain real
happines in KC we must change consciousness, not external situations. Then
he described the unfortunate position of mundane intellectuals who only
speculate and by their speculations they are misleading others and creating
troubles only. As an example of this he told us story from Mahabharata what
actually caused the whole Kuruksetra war: the enmity of Duryodhana towards
the Pandavas. And it has begun that Duryodhana listened to advises of one
wicked brahmana, who told him to built a lak house for Pandavas and then
burn them in it. So in the beginning there were two unqualified persons:
one brahmana and one ksatriya.
How Duryodhana was unqualified, GM told
another Mahabharata story how both Yudhistira and Duryodhana were tested by
their weaponery teacher. One day he called both of them and he said to
Yudhistira: "Today go out and find someone who is less qualified than you
and bring him here." And to Duryodhana he said: "Today go out and find
someone more qualified than you and also bring him here." So in the evening
they both came back and Duryodhana said: "I have searched in all
directions, but I couldn't find anyone better than me." And Yudhishira
said: "I was also searching whole day. I was trying to find someone who
makes some mistake in his duty. I couldn't find anyone for a long time, but
finally I secretly watched how one brahmana was taking water from a well
although it was Ekadasi. I though he wants to drink and thus breaking the
fast, but then I saw him just to clean the floor with it. So by wrongly
accusing him, I have commited an offense against him within my mind. So
therefore I am the most unqualified person whom I have found today. So I
have brought myself, here I am..." The teacher (was it Dronacarya? -I don't
remember now) was very much satisfied with Yudhisthira and gave him the
blessings that he will be the most qualified warrior and nobody will be
better than him. But Duryodhana was very envious and therefore always made
troubles for the Pandavas and especially Yudhishira.
When the lecture was over, the devotees have brought a huge cake and have
asked GM to distribute it. GM very quickly and expertly cut the cake and
everyone received their pieces with great jubilation, while Jagganath Misra
Prabhu lead the kirtan. After that GM went upstairs to his room. It was
quite late and GM was little tired, so I just gave him a knee massage.
Then GM took his rest.
Sunday June 10. Today GM was invited to take his lunch at Radhavinoda
Prabhu's place. Paramjyoti Prabhu drove us (GM, Madhva and Jagganatha Misra
Prabhus and me) there. It was 20 minutes by the car. One week in advance I
have given some hints to Radhavinoda Prabhu as to what he could cook for GM
and when he brough it was a whole feast. It was expertly prepared and GM
enjoyed it very much. We have also received a nice lunch. During taking
prasadam GM was lightly conversing (mainly with Radhavinoda Prabhu) about
various things. They were discussing about bharat natyam dance, preaching
about vegetarianism, preaching to indologists and Satsvarup Maharaja's
books. GM said he likes his books and admires Maharaja's style of writing
and his wide spectrum of presenting KC.
At this point I have asked GM if he is writing some book now. And he
said: "No, I don't have time now, maybe in India... And it should be a
novel. Not purely philosophical book, but a story with some philosophy in
it." Then he told us how he is looking at his previous books: "When I look
at them now, I am just wondering how could I wrote something like this...
(and he made a rejecting move with his hand) Now I would write it much more
better." Madhva said. "But people like your books. We sell them quite
nicely here." GM: "Yes, I know they like them..."
Then we drove back to the temple. In the afternoon GM gave a Sunday Feast
Lecture in the second place the devotees have here, a small preaching center not
far from downtown Sofia. It is a flat converted into the temple with the
Deities of Sri Sri Gour Nitai and Sri Sri Jagganath Baladev Subhadra. GM
choose BG 2.69 although on the board was 2.67. He did it consciously and
explained very nicely this famous verse
"what is the night for a sage is the day for mundaners...and reverse". He
mentioned how this is true even on the on cosmic level (demigods and asuras). He
briefly mentioned that there are entrances from this planet (from North &
South poles) to their realms. Then he described the glories of brahma
muhurta and value of human birth. "We want the people to become addicted to
chanting Hare Krsna. Like now many of them are addicted to drugs, so
chanting of Hare Krsna is spiritual drug..."
Like for example the people from an Internet Cafe which is in the same
building as the temple. They are opened 24 hrs a day and they are smoking 24
hrs a day one cigarette after another, except maybe for early morning hours
when they are falling asleep. But this is exactly like in this BG 2.69:
"What is night for all beings is the time of awakening for the
self-controlled; and the time of awakening for all beings is night for the
introspective sage." So every day after doing his morning puja GM sends Madhva
Prabhu to wake them up in the 'Smoka-loka', as he calls it. The first time
Madhva almost broke the window by knocking, because they are locking
themselves up during the night and they don't have a bell there. But after
a few days the guy from there got used to it that GM is going there every
morning to answer his e-mails.
So today after the Sunday Feast Lecture GM
was heading directly to 'Smoka-loka'. But back he was driven not by
Paramjyoti who drove him there, but by Indrasena P. who somehow sneaked in
and has 'stolen' GM to Paramjyoti. He also wanted to offer his service as a
driver to GM. Back I was going with Paramjyoti and although we drove really
fast, only 1 minute after GM has also arrived to the temple with
Indrasena.
